stop loss discipline challenge

10 Trades Without Moving Your Stop

Set the stop once. Let it be right or wrong. Do it ten times and watch what you learn about yourself.

What is the 10 Trades Without Moving Your Stop challenge?

It is a short discipline challenge: place ten trades and, on every one, set your stop before entry and do not move it wider once you are in. The point is not the ten results. It is to surface the exact moment you reach to widen a stop to avoid being wrong, so you can see the pattern and interrupt it. It is a habit, not a strategy.

The one rule

Before each of the next ten entries, decide your stop and write it down. Once you are in, the stop can be tightened or hit, but never widened. If you feel the pull to move it, that is the data. Name the feeling instead of moving the line.

What ten trades teaches

  • Where, exactly, the urge to widen the stop shows up.
  • Which feeling is underneath it, usually the wish to not be wrong yet.
  • That a clean loss at your planned stop costs less than a moved one.
  • That the rule held is more valuable than any single trade won.

Common questions

What if the trade reverses right after my stop?

It will happen, and it is still a win for the challenge. The goal is a stop you can trust, not a stop that is never hit. A moved stop that works once trains a habit that blows accounts.

Can I tighten the stop?

Yes. Tightening to protect profit or cut risk is fine. The challenge is only about not widening it to avoid being wrong.

Hold the line with help in the moment.

Name the urge to move the stop before it moves your hand.
