trading pause challenge
The Mirror Moment Challenge
One 60-second pause, once a day, for seven days. The smallest possible habit that changes the next decision.
What is the Mirror Moment Challenge?
The Mirror Moment Challenge is a 7-day habit: before your first trade each day, take one 60-second pause and name four things, the state you are in, the urge you feel, the trade you are tempted by, and the pattern it belongs to. It is a pattern interrupt, not a strategy or a prediction, and it is designed to make the pause automatic.
The four-line pause
- StateName how you are arriving: calm, rushed, down from yesterday, eager to make it back.
- UrgeName what you want to do right now, before you decide whether to do it.
- TradeName the specific trade the urge is pointing at.
- PatternName the loop it belongs to, if you can. Named loops are easier to interrupt.
Why 60 seconds is enough
Most bad trades are decided in the few seconds between a feeling and a click. You rarely need more information in that moment. You need a gap. A 60-second pause is long enough for urgency to drop and for the rule you set in calm to hold.
The Mirror Moment
A 60-second pause in which the trader names four things before clicking: the state, the urge, the trade, and the pattern. Long enough to loosen the story's grip on the next decision.
- Name the state
- Name the urge
- Name the trade
- Name the pattern
Common questions
Only one pause a day?
One is the minimum that builds the habit without becoming a chore. Take more when a decision feels heavy, but the daily one is the commitment.
Do I need the app?
No. You can run the four-line pause on paper. The app makes it faster and turns each pause into a Mirror Note that surfaces the pattern over the week.
